Fairy Princess

As I have mentioned many times, Ainsley has quite the imagination. For the last two days she has decided that she is a fairy princess. She prances around with her fairy wings and wand and grants wishes.

Here she is last night trying to fly...

and this morning showing off her wings...

Thanksgiving 2008

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year and it was a great day. Yes, it took us 3 turkeys to have the meal (long, ridiculous story), but it was TASTY! We were blessed to have my parents, Kelly, Cameron, Miley & Irelyn, and Nancy over for the day.

Unfortunately, in all the preparation, I only took one picture, and it was long after everyone was gone. Ainsley was one tired girl from going on adventures in the backyard with Grandpa. She sure loves her Grandpa- he is so good at helping her with her imagination! :)

The sickies

Poor Ainsley has some sort of throat infection. She's battling a nasty fever and sore throat. :(

Our little turkey

Yesterday Ainsley's class had their Thanksgiving party. They wore turkey hats and sang a turkey song for all the parents. It was adorable!

Each kid was asked what they were most thankful for and their answer was written on a turkey feather for a bulletin board. Awww...

And then they chowed down!

I was so glad to be off work still to be able to be there for the party. Hearing her shout "That's my Mommy!" when you walk into the room just melts your heart.

Let's compare, shall we?

Ainsley

Allie

Add some more hair to Allie and you have a match!

Big Sister

Ainsley has been amazing with Allie since she was born. Having been the center of attention for so long, I was a bit worried about how she was going to react to Allie taking some of that from her. Well, she has done so well! She loves to help with her and her favorite thing is hugs and kisses. I hear over and over all day "can I hug her?" It is very sweet. Don't get me wrong, she does get jealous every now and again, and will sometimes follow you around when you are carrying Allie, but she does not complain.

We have tried to make "special Mommy or Daddy time" for her where she is just with one of us and no sister. Every three weeks or so, we go and get a pedicure together, on Fridays she rides home in Daddy's car with just him, today Mommy gets to come to her class Thanksgiving party and Allie will stay with Daddy... all of these things really seem to help her feel like number one to us.

Here you can see her watching over her little sister. :)

Babywearing

I get a lot of comments about wearing Allie (and Ainsley when she was small enough). Some people think it is cute and others wonder why I don't just use a stroller. First off, I like wearing my baby. Yes, I know using the term wearing sounds odd, but that is just what it is. I enjoy knowing they are safe and close to me. It keeps busy body strangers at bay, and then I do not have to be the mean one asking them to keep their hands (and germs) to themselves! They are able to snuggle in and hear my heartbeat just like when they were in the womb, and you can almost always feel them relax once them are inside. Plus, having 2 hands free is quite helpful! I can make dinner, grocery shop, clean up, carry stuff around. It works out well for both little one and me!

6 weeks old!

Allie is 6 weeks old already! Boy does the time fly. When we went to the doctor for Ainsley's flu shot this week, we asked them to weigh Allie. I nearly fell over when the scale said 10 lbs. 7 oz. That is a gain of 2 lbs. 6 oz. in just 5 weeks! Here are a few pics of the fatty. :)

We seem to be making progress

Some of you know that Allie is a screamer. For a while there, she was screaming basically any time she was not sleeping, which was just oh so much fun! She was unhappy no matter what you did- holding her, not holding her, bouncing her, putting her in the swing, it did not matter. Thankfully, for the last few days she has been like a different child. She's been happy, cooing, smiling and MUCH happier. She still has a fussy time between 5 and 8 pm, (just like Ainsley did), but in the grand scheme of things, that is just fine!! I was really getting worried since I have to go back to work in 2 1/2 weeks (boo), and she will be with Micheal at the shop all day- not the best place for her to be screaming, kwim?

Allie smiles

She does this crazy thing with her tongue. :) How cute is she?

Halloween

Being a big 3 year old girl allows you to pick a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch to carve with your own design! Ainsley drew her design on her pumpkin and Daddy helped her to carve it.

Picking a costume this year was interesting... when we went to the store to look at them, Ainsley got very upset because they did not have what she wanted. What would that be you ask? A blue monster. Only our 3 year old girl would want to be a blue monster. Not just any monster, a blue one. Luckily we found one and boy was she cute!

3 years old!

Ainsley's birthday party was on Sunday and we were blessed to be able to share it with so many family and friends. She had a blast and was one lucky girl in the present department!
